4th Place at 4th Annual Athens Showdown
Game 1 v. Cleveland – W- 16-8
Once again a strong showing by Kimi Segarra, Roman Denu, Geoff Gear and cagemaster Paul Splitt enabled the Squirrels to build momentum and storm pass Cleveland. Other notable players were Patti Ross and The Model with strong offensive presence.
Game 2 v. Toronto – L – 6-10
Toronto jumped on the Squirrels quickly with perfection in their passing and ability to the slow the game down to their tempo. A very intense game up until the 4th quarter with a score 6-5, Toronto then took the opportunity to rally and take a demanding lead to finish off the Squirrels in their first loss of 2008.
Game 3 v. Ball State - W – 14-4
Needing a pickup from the prior game's loss, the Squirrels jumped on Ball State quickly. Ken Huber, Vince Scalici, Paul Splitt and Corey Dauw each provided goal master experience. Chemistry and a 1st time perfection in man-up situations 2-2 allowed the Squirrels to capitalize offensively and finish the evening with a victory.
Game 4 v. Ohio University – L – 6-5
Host team Ohio University filled the cheering sections as they used fan power and chemistry to knock the Squirrels out of their tree. Exchanging goals back and forth and coming down to the last shot, wasn't enough for the Bobcat's strong defense. Dusty Doris, Jason Wickes and Kimi Segarra led the team offensively as Michael Jones and Roman Denu contributed greatly on the defensive end.
