Akron - April 5-6
v. Ohio State
Speed was a factor to keep up with a run and gun Buckeye Squad. With the help of speedsters Dave Eisenstein, Kelly Sullivan, Michael Jones and Roman DeNu, the Squirrels were able to capitalize quickly. Final score 15-7.
v. University of Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh jumped out strong against the Squirrels with goal exchanging up until the 1st half. Kimi Segarra had an incredible 1st half with 6 goals from center. Pittsburgh led 6-5 going into the second half, but the Squirrels depth kicked in strong. Geoff Gear, Caitlin Spangler and Dave Eisenstein used their anticipation kills to not only take the lead but to finish off Pittsburgh with a 13-7 victory. Defense in the 2nd half was key and great cage management was done by Corey Dauw.
v. Cleveland State
Sunday morning came to quickly as the Squirrels were up against their fellow rival, Cleveland State. Cleveland State's strong chemistry was difficult to handle, but soon enough the Squirrels pounced on them like it was a fresh nut from the tree. Young studs JJ Spangler and Kelly Sullivan used their speed to supplement Old Studs Geoff Gear, Mike DeBear and Kimi Segarra. This combination threw off Cleveland State's chemistry and the Squirrels came out on top 11-8. Their 3-0 record placed them in the final Championship game.
v. Ohio University
Championship Game. The Bobcats, being a quick squad from Athens, OH, tried to out swim the Squirrels, but once again speed was not a problem. Goals scored by Brandi Shoupe, Roman Denu, Dave Eisenstein, just to name a few, helped to secure a win 12-5 over the Bobcats. Once again strong cage was played by both Corey Dauw and Paul Splitt.
