#1 at UD Flyer Invitational
The Ohio Squirrels competed in the Flyer Invitational for the second time, improving upon last September's 5th place finish with a hard won 1st place against Dayton. Strong performances were made by Phil Weisfelder, Geoff Gear and Brandi Shoupe.
v. Cleveland State - 13-7
A new masters team in Ohio and soon to be a strong rival for the Ohio Squirrels, Cleveland St. brought a very strong front with a offensive power. Squirrels won due to strong performances by Geoff Gear, David McGraw and goalie, Corey Dauw.
v. Ohio State - 16-8
Depth and experience proved to be the producer for this win with strong cage played by Paul Splitt. On the offensive end, Chad Rexroad rallied and scored the team's first 3 goals. On the defensive end, Roman Denu and Geoff Gear both were quick with several steals and Mike Debear had a "Statue of Liberty" block This provided momentum for the Squirrels in finishing off the Buckeyes to a 16-8 win.
v. University of Cincinnat/Xavier University 16-6
Strong turnout once again with Geoff Gear setting 2m. Phil Weisfelder had a strong presence with several goals and Brandi Shoupe/Jaclyn Tameris defensive duo was too strong for the Bearcats/Musketeers to break through.
v. Dayton University - 9-6
Dayton provided a strong home court advantage as well as a well-oiled machine on the counter attack end. Exchanging goals in the first two quarters allowed the Squirrels to use their endurance and eventually out hustle them. Eventually, the Squirrels pulled away and obtained a well-earned victory and a 1st place finish. Special thanks to the Flyers for putting on a job-well done in organizing a great tournament.
