Squirrels take 7th Place Overall at University of Tennessee Dogwood Invitational
Squirrels take 7th Place Overall at University of Tennessee Dogwood Invitational with a 1-2-1 record. There were 14 teams in attendance all from the Midwest and Southeast.
Game 1 v. Northwestern - Tie 8-8
Came back from an 8-4 defecit in the 4th quarter to tie the fierce Wildcats
Game 2 v. Virginia Tech - Lost 8-7
Very close game with the Hokies coming out on top with a goal with a minute remaining. Squirrels had an opportunity to tie, but could not capitalize
Game 3 v. Florida - Lost 6-4
Defensive game. Squirrels shut down their best player but the Gators speed took control
Game 4 v. NC State - Win - 12-3
Defense and speed helped with this win.
The other Ohio teams performed well:
Ohio University - 2nd Place
Central Ohio - 3rd Place
Ohio State - 10th Place
(one of the rare times that the state of Ohio brings four teams to an out of state tournament. This is kudos to the state of Ohio and the amount of men's water polo still being played in late April)
Saturday's games were indoors due to weather. Sundays were outdoors. Once again, UT proved to host another great tournament. Thank you Volunteers!!!
